Edward Grochowski - Bio

Dr. Edward Grochowski is a well known speaker addressing hard disk drive and magnetic storage technologies, and his charts and diagrams are used world wide by members of the storage industry. His areal density trend chart is a ongoing standard, analogous to Moore's Law chart for the semiconductor industry.

Dr. Grochowski was a long term employee of IBM, starting his career with IBM's microelectronic silicon activity at the East Fishkill Facility in New York and later joining the IBM Almaden Research Center in San Jose, California. He has maintained a historical record of technical progress for magnetic storage. His interests include hard disk drive component evolutionary trends and he has authored many technical articles on the subject. These include a series of evolutionary charts which have become industry standards and are considered roadmaps for progress in magnetic storage. Dr. Grochowski holds nine patents and has presented numerous times, worldwide, on magnetic disk drives and alternative storage architectures. He is a member of the IEEE. After IBM, Dr. Grochowski has consulted for:

· Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, Research Division

· International Data Corporation (IDC)

· TrendFocus

· International Disk Drive, Equipment and Materials Assoc. (IDEMA)

· Multiple attorneys and legal organizations as an expert witness
